Some Composite Fuselage Construction Methods:, Posted 03-31-2011, 06:28 PM #1
-Traditional: making plug to make female molds, lay in cloth/foam/cloth and vacuum bag and heat cure using pre-preg, glue halves together, best strength:weight
-Hollmann: make bulkheads and stringers and cover with foam and fiberglass
-Moldless: build foam fuselage box and lay glass on outside only
-Moldless Sandwich: build foam fuselage box and lay glass on inside and outside
-Moldless Sandwich with vacuum bagging: combination of above methods’ by building fuselage halves or just sides out of foam and cover inside and out with fiberglass then glue together

-Do these methods sound right? Does anyone have any ideas/data on how much each method might weigh compared to other methods for the same strength?
